Here's where things get funky. :)

I throw a lot of colors into each of the flat color-shapes. For the wings, I throw in darker grays and lighter grays on the flat midtone gray areas. I put lighter tones where I think the wings are more transparent, and darker tones where I think the shadows would be. There's a lot of playing involved for me when it comes to wings. I still don't have them 'Down'. I should look at more pictures of bats, but that would spoil the fun for me. Drawing is like a game for me sometimes. I used to get Atari games and not read the instructions, and then learn to play the game through trial and error. Drawing is the same kind of game for me often. But, if you want to go straight to 'The solution' for this particular game, I recommend doing a Yahoo or Google search on pictures of bats, and look for wings that have the highlights and structure you want. :)
