Smudge Tutorial Page 2 - Lay down some Color! [Page1 - Intro ][ Page2
- Lay down Color][ Page3 - Smudge ][ Page4
- More Color ][ Page5 - Cleanup ] Well, first we need to get something down to smudge. I started with an almost-black red color. From there, I added lighter areas where the most light would be striking the surface. I used a large fuzzy-edged brush in Photoshop to do this. You can also use the airbrush, which even does a bit of the smudging for you. I find for something to smudge really well, it needs at least three colors, preferably four. I've added some black to the bottom version. That's the one we can use to start smudging.
Here is an image of my airbrush tool settings for reference to find and set up your own paintbrush tool. You could also use paintbrush or airbrush for this just as easily.
