Smudge Tutorial Step 8 (Classic Scales)

Next, I take my airbrush and smudge tool set to 5 pixels and 42% cleanup to add some depth to each of the scales and to obscure my guidelines. By smudging along the edge of the scales in a sweeping motion, I get a nice effect without losing the depth of the scale. Dang, this is hard to explain in words. But, play around with the scales. Try to make them slightly different from the ones around them, and you'll get a very realistic feeling.
