Another joyous public-domain dragon-drawing tutorial by Dee Dreslough! Feel free to redistribute and repost however you like.
Well, the first thing to understand about wings is that there are several different kinds. (Feathered, tradition bat-model, 'fantastic' bat model with extra fingerbones and spars, insect, butterfly, etc.) For this tutorial, I'm going to focus on traditional bat-model wings.
Bats are mammals, and because of this, bat wings are very similar to human
arms. (Bird wings are also similar to human arms in many ways, but they're covered
in feathers.) There is a direct correlation between shoulder, elbow hand and
fingers on the human arm, and you can use this help guide yourself to more realistic
looking wings.
